This year the "Adejeros" and "Adejeras" celebrate the one of the most important socio-cultural events of 2011, the procession of Adeje. Here again a large number of people from all over the world are expected.
Last year a historic record was achieved by over 22,000 participants and more than 350 actors from various parts of Tenerife. Here, the diversity of different nationalities was as high as ever. Also, a large number of tourists visited this spectacular event.
This year the organizers expect a similar response, if not more. In particular, the number of tourists in recent years has increased steadily, as they set up to spend their vacation on Easter.
It is not surprising that Easter has now reached at Adeje an international and esteemed status. "An event that defines us", says José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga mayor of Adeje. He added "The representation of suffering and death of Jesus Christ reminds us where our roots lie".
From local point of view, this are the best days of the year. The season in which every moment is lived with great intensity and thus exudes a special magic.
